The wet electromagnetic separator is an equipment
used for the processing of fine-weak magnetic minerals
such as hematite, limonite, wolframite, ilmenite,
manganese, tantalum-niobium, etc. It can also be used
for the cleaning of non-metallic minerals. YEMS has
the advantages of high separation rate, efficient
recovery, no clogging of the matrix, adaptability to
different grain sizes, high reliability and ease of
maintenance
YEMS DESIGN AND WORKING PRINCIPLE
YEMS consists of coils, matrix, feed and product
hoppers that provide energy to the system. Narrow
diameter rods made of magnetic stainless steel are
used as the matrix.
Along the perimeter of the ring there are a number of
rectangular cells in which the matrix of stainless steel
rods is placed. When the machine is running, the ring
rotates clockwise when viewed from the inlet side. The
fed sludge enters the ring from the top side. The matrix
becomes a magnet with the help of the coil and attracts
minerals with magnetic properties from the fed sludge
and adheres them to its surface.
The non-magnetic grains pass through the matrix by
the combined action of vibration, gravity and drag.
Then, they are transferred to the sediment hopper
through gaps in the lower clamp. The rubber
diaphragm in the sediment hopper is moved by
vibration. As long as the level of the sludge is kept
above the level in the sludge hopper, the kinetic energy
from the vibration is efficiently transferred to the
separation zone.
Since the flow direction for discharging the magnetic
section is opposite to the feed direction with respect to
the matrix bulk, coarse particles can be flushed without
having to pass through the depth of the matrix.
Vibration keeps the particles loose and suspended in
the matrix. Counterflow and vibration in the system
prevent the matrix from clogging. From this point of
view, vibration also improves the quality of the
concentrate
These factors not only enable efficient recovery of
weakly magnetic grains as small as 0.05 mm, but also
increase the feed size range up to 1.2 mm. This
increases the upper limit of the grain size to be
processed.

YMS SEPARATION PROCESS
The first operation starts the system from the electrical
panel. After the machine starts, it activates the closed
cooling water that prevents the coil from heating up and
provides water circulation.
Providing 1450 Amps DC, the electrical panel induces
the coil with maximum energy.
The water level in the trough is created by reducing the
valve at the bottom of the system.
With the help of pumps, the diluted feed comes to the
boiler and is poured into the hopper.
Vibration in the system prevents the ore from collapsing.
The ore comes to the matrix circle with the vibration and
the magnetic parts stick to the matrix wires.
The matrix ring rotates to the upper part and the
magnetic particles are discharged into the hopper with
the help of pressurized water.
Particles that are not affected by the magnetic field are
removed from the vessel and separation is achieved.
WET ELECTROMAGNETIC FILTER (EMF)
The electromagnetic separator captures iron particles
and para-magnetic particles in the liquid or sludge and
separates them from the liquid.
It has been tested in ceramic plants and found to
perform better than other electromagnetic separators.
It has been observed that it is 30 percent more efficient
than other wet separation processes on minerals such
as feldspathic and quartz.
